SWEET EASTER BRAIDS

Ingredients
400 g flour
200 mL Sterilgarda microfiltered whole milk
50 g cane sugar
1/2 cube brewer's yeast
50 g butter
1 lemon
1 vanilla pod
2 eggs + 1 egg for brushing
to taste salt
2 cucchiaio granulated sugar colored
colored sugar or chocolate eggs
1 cup Sterilgarda fresh blond orange juice
Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the 2 eggs with half the sugar, add the dissolved yeast, the melted butter and the warm Sterilgarda microfiltered whole milk, finally add half the flour. Mix well and let rise for a quarter of an hour, covering the bowl. We recommend using a planetary mixer.
  2. Combine all the remaining ingredients – except the almonds and colored sugar – and knead for a few minutes. Cover the bowl, leaving the dough to rise for at least a couple of hours.
  3. After the time has elapsed, remove the dough from the bowl, turning it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 6 loaves, work them with your hands to obtain 6 tubular shapes.
  4. Weave the tubes together to create a soft braid that you will then join at the ends, if necessary wetting with a little Sterilgarda microfiltered whole milk or water, forming a sort of donut.
  5. Place the 3 doughnuts obtained on a baking tray lined with baking paper, to rise for another 45 minutes in a warm oven turned off.
  6. Heat the oven to 180°, brush the surface of the braids with the remaining egg and cover them with the colored sugar granules.
  7. Cook for at least 30 minutes; once baked, leave to cool and insert the sugar-colored eggs in the center.
  8. Accompany with a glass of Sterilgarda fresh blond orange juice.
